Removal of Extraneous Material
"Effective measures shall be taken to protect against the inclusion of metal or other extraneous material. Compliance with this requirement may be accomplished by using sieves, traps, magnets, electronic metal detectors or other suitable effective means." CFR 21, 110.80
Strainers and sieves remove large pieces of visible extraneous matter from the process stream. Pieces of metal, wood, gasket and other debris which could create a hazard to the consumer or cause damage to equipment are retained. Strainers are used when the product contains desirable solids which would be removed by finer filtration or when the viscosity of the product makes finer filtration impractical.- Reusable metal strainers perform under a variety of pressure and temperature variations.
- Disposable gasket strainers monitor sediment as you load and unload tankers.
- Filter tubes remove particulates which would pass through screens and sieves.
- The filter housing provides support for filter material.
- Unsupported filter bags reduce splash and insure final filtration.
